About Twitter Card Generator
Build Twitter Card meta tags for X in your browser. Choose summary or summary_large_image, enter a title, description, image URL, and optional @site / @creator handles, then copy the live HTML into your page head. The preview shows how a compact or large-image card reads before you ship. Pair it with the Open Graph Tag Generator when you also need Facebook and LinkedIn previews. Nothing is uploaded.
How to Use Twitter Card Generator
- Choose a card type: summary_large_image for a wide hero, or summary for a compact thumbnail.
- Enter the title and description shown when the link is shared.
- Paste an absolute https image URL (1200 x 628 works well for large cards).
- Add twitter:site (brand handle) and optional twitter:creator.
- Copy the HTML and paste it inside the head of your page.
Twitter Card Generator Examples
Blog post with large image
Card summary_large_image, a post title, a two-line description, and a 1200 x 628 image produce twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, and twitter:image ready for an article template.
Product page with brand handle
Add @yourbrand as site so X attributes the card to your account. Keep the title under ~70 characters so it does not truncate hard in the timeline.
Compact summary card
Use summary with a square thumbnail when the share should stay small next to the title - useful for docs and support links.
Handle from an X profile URL
Paste https://x.com/toolsminify into Site and the generator normalizes it to @toolsminify in twitter:site.
Common Use Cases

- Preview summary vs summary_large_image before deploy
- Set twitter:site and twitter:creator handles correctly
- Escape titles with quotes and ampersands for valid HTML
- Complement Open Graph tags for X-specific control
Frequently Asked Questions about Twitter Card Generator
- What is a Twitter Card?
- A Twitter Card is the rich preview X shows when someone posts a link. Meta tags such as twitter:card, twitter:title, twitter:description, and twitter:image tell X how to render that preview.
- What is the difference between summary and summary_large_image?
- summary_large_image shows a wide image above the title - best for blog posts and launches. summary uses a small square thumbnail beside the text - better for compact shares. Pick the type that matches your image.
- Do I still need Open Graph tags?
- Yes for Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack, and many messengers. X can fall back to Open Graph, but dedicated twitter:* tags give you explicit control. Generate both - use this tool plus the Open Graph Tag Generator.
- What size should the Twitter Card image be?
- Use an absolute https URL. About 1200 x 628 pixels works well for summary_large_image. For summary, a square image (at least 144 x 144, ideally larger) is safer.
- What goes in twitter:site?
- Your brand or site @handle on X. You can type @brand, brand, or a profile URL - the generator normalizes it to @handle.
- Where do I paste the HTML?
- Paste the tags inside the head of the public HTML document (or your framework's metadata API). They must be visible on the URL you share so X's crawler can read them.
- Does my copy leave the device?
- No. The Twitter Card Generator runs entirely in your browser. Titles, handles, and image URLs are not uploaded or stored on a server.
